The look
What it looks like
Straight vertical bars inside a rectangular frame, with no scrollwork or decoration. A dark frame against light stucco reads crisp and modern from the street.
How private it is
Open. You can see through it in both directions. The privacy comes from the boundary: people stop at the gate instead of at your door.
Often suits
- Desert contemporary and modern homes
- Updated ranch and modern farmhouse fronts
- Homes with simple, clean-lined windows and garage doors
Works on
- Recessed front entry
- Covered porch
- Straight rectangular opening
Design choices
What you'll decide
Bar spacing
Closer bars look more solid and matter for small pets and kids. Wider spacing looks lighter and more open.
Bar size
Thicker bars look heavier and more substantial; thinner bars almost disappear from a distance.
Color
Choose a color that works with your trim, light fixtures and garage door.
Lock and hardware
Locking hardware is part of the design. Mark keypad, smart lock or self-closing interest in the quote request and we'll confirm what works for your gate with your quote.
Good to know
- If you want visitors not to see your front door at all, look at Modern Slat or Horizontal Privacy instead.
- Tell us about small pets. Bar spacing is set per gate, so we can plan for them.
- Visitors will stop at the gate, so think about where a doorbell or camera should be.

FAQ
Modern Vertical questions
Can I still see out through a vertical bar gate?
Yes. Open bars keep the view from your door and let light and air into the entry. It adds a boundary, not a screen.
Can the bars be closer together for a small dog?
Spacing is set for each gate. Tell us about your pets in the quote request and we'll plan the spacing around them.
How much does a front entry gate cost?
Every entry is different. Price depends on the opening size, design, materials, privacy level, hardware and installation. Send photos and we'll give you a photo-based estimate, then confirm the final price after measuring.
Do I need HOA approval?
It depends on your community. Many HOAs have rules about exterior changes, so check yours before installation. We can share the design details you'll need for an approval request.
Can I get an estimate from photos?
Yes. Photos let us review the entry and give a photo-based estimate. The final price is confirmed after measuring.

Arched
